You wash the relaxer out during the treatment with neutralizing shampoo, but you don't wash your hair again with regular shampoo for at least 48-72 hours (2-3 days) and ideally a full week after the relaxer is rinsed and conditioned to allow the hair bonds to fully set, preventing the straightening from reverting or causing scalp irritation. 

During the Relaxer Process (Immediate Wash)

Rinse: The chemical relaxer is thoroughly rinsed from the hair with warm water.

Neutralize: A neutralizing shampoo is then used immediately to stop the chemical process and remove all traces of the relaxer, followed by a deep conditioner. 

After the Relaxer (First Regular Wash)

Wait: Do not shampoo your hair with your regular shampoo for at least 2 to 3 days, but waiting a full week (7 days) is often recommended for best results.

Why Wait? This allows the hair's internal bonds to fully reform and settle, preventing the relaxer from washing out or weakening, which can happen if you shampoo too soon.

Listen to Your Scalp: If you experience irritation or itching, wait longer; some people wait up to 10 days.
